In 2005, the DDA worked to save the County courthouse from being moved to Houghton Lake. This saved numerous jobs from leaving Roscommon as well as the residual commerce. This came with a cost of $250,000 along with the consulting fees. The $250,000 was paid to the county to offset the costs of the new building being established in Roscommon. It also covered the cost of moving the River Center to its current location.
